Each year, Michael’s firm Leverage Media takes home its own collection of awards, honoring his prestigious group of clients, including Patton Boggs, Morrison & Foerster, Accenture, American Gas Association, and the Retail Industry Leaders Association, among others.
Michael sparked an interest in custom publishing while he was Special Reports editor at Adweek in the late 1980s. In 1995 he joined Chief Executive magazine, selling and producing a range of custom titles and pairing them with other custom content vehicles such as surveys and roundtables, allowing companies including Accenture, PricewaterhouseCoopersand Deloitte to build new practice areas using Chief Executive’s custom content program. He joined American Lawyer Media to in 1999 to launch the company’s custom publishing program.
In 2001, he struck out on his own and never looked back. An early member of the Custom Content Council, Michael volunteered his time and was elected to the board. He spent two unprecedented terms as chairman from 2006-2010, during which time the Pearls became the gold standard mark of excellence in our industry. He also launched Content and served as editorial director for three years, fielded ground-breaking industry research with Roper and Readex, launched the Caldwell and Marketing Heroes Awards and experimented with a number of meeting formats, eventually settling on an annual conference in the spring.
With all Michael’s professional achievements, his most important Pearls are his wife and partner Andrea and three children, Ari, Estelle and Imogene.
