St. Joseph Media announces new Editor-in-Chief, FASHION and Digital Director, Women's Brands
July 26, 2016 – (TORONTO) St Joseph Media announces today the appointment of Noreen Flanagan to the role of Editor-in-Chief, FASHION overseeing content and brand strategy across all brand platforms, print, digital, social, video and branded events.

After a successful 15-year tenure at ELLE Canada, she spent the past six years as Editor-in-Chief, during which time she and her multi-platform editorial team won multiple awards, including being named Best Magazine for 2015 by the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors (CSME). Noreen was also recently elected Editor of the Year by CSME members. Noreen is known for championing numerous innovative co-branded multi-platform initiatives, such as the ELLE Canada Closet and the first “shoppable videos” in the Canadian magazine market. She also launched the first live cover shoots, the first ELLE Canada drone fashion shoot and the first cover shot in virtually reality, all of which garnered international media attention. She has appeared on etalk, CBC TV and Radio, BNN, Celebrity Style Story and Entertainment Tonight and is a frequent speaker at colleges and universities, discussing journalism, fashion, current media trends and the future of the business.
Steven Kawalit is appointed to the role of Digital Director, Women’s Brands, overseeing our portfolio of women’s brands across all digital and mobile platforms, including FASHION, Men’s FASHION, Weddingbells, Mariage Québec, GLOW, Pure and Canadian Family.
Steve joins us from his previous position as Digital Director of ELLE Canada. In this role, he helped the editorial team produce, distribute and measure Women’s lifestyle content for an audience that lives at the intersection of mobile and social. He helped build a metrics-driven editorial team focused on using storytelling, digital analytics and emerging social trends as levers for audience growth. With over 10 years experience, he has conceptualized and implemented comprehensive online marketing programs for Microsoft, eBay, BMO and Capital One. His love of social media goes beyond his professional life. In 2014, Steven enlisted Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg to help him propose to his partner at Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park. She said 'yes.'
