C2MTL 2014 at a glance

76 international-caliber speakers, 34 experimentation workshops, 12 artistic installations, 10 musical performances, 2 Cirque du Soleil performances, more than 600 pre-booked business meetings, close to 10.000 tweets using the hashtag #C2MTL, not to mention one hell of a closing party attended by more than 4000 people. These are just some of the things that went down when 2000+ participants from 25 countries gathered in Montreal these past three days for the Sid Lee-imagined conference on commerce and creativity.
The Grand Finale
The conference ended on a high note yesterday, when the weather finally came around and showed Montreal at its best. The outdoor plaza filled up between conferences with participants getting together to enjoy the sun, the ambiance and some networking. In the Forum, 2 x James entered the stage to finish off the conference. First, James Murphy, the LCD Soundsystem founder and renowned DJ joined George Stroumboulopoulos in a conversation about his musical career and creativity. He was followed by director and adventurer, James Cameron, who shared his insights on topics such as success and failure in his – judging from the interest from the audience – much anticipated talk.
At night, the Arsenal opened up the doors to the public for the big Soirée Illumination. More than 4000 people attended the party, featuring transporting performances by Phi Centre artists and concluding with James Murphy working his DJ magic. All in all, an incredible way to end an incredible 3 days!
We can’t wait for next year’s edition, which will take place on May 26-28th in Montreal, and already has Kevin Spacey and Chelsea Clinton confirmed among the speakers.
