Editor-in-Chief, Country Living
Rachel Hardage Barrett was named Editor-in-Chief of Country Living in October 2013. A Tennessee native, Rachel started her magazine career at Glamour in 2001, where she spent several years writing about a wide variety of topics and once, for a story, rode the Conde Nast elevator dressed as Wonder Woman.
After Glamour, Rachel moved to Real Simple in 2004, where she served as Deputy Editor and Executive Editor, Special Projects, working on the monthly print magazine (including international editions) and overseeing books, special issues, and licensed products.
From there, Rachel moved a little closer to her Tennessee roots as Executive Editor of Southern Living in Birmingham, Alabama, where she oversaw style, food, travel, and features (nabbing the brand's first ASME nod in at least a decade) before taking the helm of Country Living.
When she's not fielding farmhouse pitches or scouring antiques shops, Rachel, alongside her writer-editor husband Brian, can be found chasing after two energetic toddlers, Emmy and Jack, and their black lab-chow mix Bailey.
