New York, NY (November 3, 2016) — The 14th annual Pearl Awards, hosted by The Content Council, the premiere non-profit organization for content marketing in North America, has announced a new award “Content Innovator of the Year.” This award is presented to an individual who is making significant contributions to the content marketing industry by virtue of his or her dynamic and creative strategies.
The inaugural “Content Innovator of the Year” award will be presented to David Lang. Lang is the Emmy Award-winning television producer who has brought his talent to the marketing world as Chief Content Office of Mindshare, NA and President of Mindshare Content + Entertainment. In this dual role, Lang oversees all creative development & production, strategic marketing and partnerships in the entertainment-marketing arena, as well as focusing on the creation of new economic models.
“I am honored and humbled to be the first recipient of this prestigious award from The Content Council,” said David Lang. “I am very passionate about the entertainment and marketing space and being named Content Innovator of the Year is truly a highlight. I believe it’s a reflection of having the best team in the industry and great clients that allow us to do innovative work.”
The Content Council also announced the winner of the 2016 John Caldwell Award, Gary Johnson, President, MSP Communications. This award, given in honor of John Caldwell, an early pioneer in custom publishing, is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the industry by promoting the use of custom media as a marketing channel. This individual also displays unparalleled leadership and sets a standard for work that demonstrates excellence in content marketing.
Thirty-nine years and 225 print and digital titles later, MSP Communications continues to be a leading content marketing agency who has developed content creation for some of America’s most recognized brands including American Express, General Mills, Delta, and many more. In addition to running MSP Communications, Johnson is an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota teaching a graduate course in content strategy and brand journalism.
“I have had the great fortune of accompanying content through many stages of its evolution and I remain a firm believer that nothing can touch and engage people more effectively than content created with the reader top of mind,” states Gary Johnson.
Both awards will be presented at the Pearl Awards Gala in New York on November 16th at Essex House. To book your tickets to the gala click here. You can download the shortlist for the awards here.
