Award-Winning St. Joseph Media To Publish Three CAA Magazines
Dec. 8, 2015 – St. Joseph Communications today announced that its magazine division St. Joseph Media (SJM), will publish three of the largest circulation magazines in Western Canada.
Starting in February 2016, SJM will publish AMA Insider (circ. 620,000), CAA Saskatchewan Magazine (circ. 125,000) and CAA Manitoba Magazine (circ. 143,000). Each quarterly magazine has the largest circulation of any periodical or newspaper in its province.
The magazines now have new names to better reflect the trusted brands that provide them to members. Previously, they were known as Westworld Alberta (Alberta Motor Association or AMA), Westworld Saskatchewan (CAA Saskatchewan) and Going Places (CAA Manitoba).
At the same time, the magazines will undergo a comprehensive redesign that will prioritize the content that’s most relevant to CAA members.
The magazines will feature more news and information about the services available to auto club members - including roadside assistance, travel, insurance and rewards. All the local and exotic travel features that readers have come to love about the previous magazines will remain, but displayed through the lens of a fresh, contemporary design. SJM will also introduce many new elements, such as columns and highly-visual front-of-book sections.

Drawing from its award-winning expertise, St. Joseph Media will manage all the editorial, design, prepress, printing and distribution for the magazines, as well as sales.
In addition, as of February 2016, SJM and AMA will launch amainsider.com. The new website, which will be enhanced for mobile devices, will offer all the great content from the magazine plus additional digital-only stories, visual storytelling and video, so Albertans can enjoy reading AMA Insider whenever and wherever they are. amainsider.com will be available to all Albertans.
A similar digital roll-out is planned for Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
All three magazines offer advertisers unique reach and strong demographics across each province. The planned rollout of associated websites and magazine-related newsletters will further enrich advertiser opportunities.
“The penetration and quality of readership is unparalleled in each province,” said SJM’s Brian French, who is spearheading sales in Alberta.
Robert Zyluk is leading sales in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Given their combined strength of circulation, readership and demographics, the CAA magazines will also be sold to national advertisers primarily out of Toronto, as led by SJM SVP Douglas Kelly.
The magazines will be led editorially by Editor-in-Chief Kellie Davenport, who previously led the Air Miles magazine at Rogers Publishing. Davenport will be working with magazine veteran Maryam Sanati at SJM.
St. Joseph Media is one of Canada’s largest magazine publishers with titles such as Toronto Life, FASHION, Ottawa Magazine, as well as the Where group of magazines in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa and Toronto. SJM’s Strategic Content Labs also publishes a number of client-driven magazines including AWAY for Toronto Pearson International Airport, 1879 for Birks and Spirit for Grey Goose.
