In 2016 we announced a new award – Content Innovator of the Year. This award is presented to an individual who is making significant contributions to the content marketing industry by virtue of his or her innovative and creative strategies.
Congratulations to 2017 winner, Ken Kaplan!
Ken Kaplan is executive editor, iQ by
Intel, a digital tech culture magazine that profiles innovators and
innovations changing our world. He has led the editorial direction of iQ since 2013,
making it more journalistic and
relevant to audiences that are important to Intel.
Kaplan joined the global chipmaker in 2000, after nearly a decade of managing press and community relations at the NBC-TV affiliate in San Francisco. Throughout his time at Intel, he has helped keep the company on the cutting edge of digital media through his broadcast media relations and later his digital media strategy, writing and production skills. He helped Intel embraced and evolve its use of social media, which has grown into a global footprint that engages Intel with millions of tech enthusiasts around the world.
He was instrumental in launching and growing Intel channels on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, and crafted the first companywide social media guidelines over a decade ago. In 2011, he helped launch and staff Intel Free Press, a technology news site that gave tech journalists authentic, enterprising stories by and about Intel.
His writing and editorial leadership at iQ contributes to Intel innovative approach to storytelling and social engagement on the company’s owned and branded digital channels.

David Lang is an Emmy Award-winning television producer who has brought his talents to the marketing world as Chief Content Officer of Mindshare, NA and President of Mindshare Content + Entertainment. In this dual role, Lang oversees all creative development & production, strategic marketing and partnerships in the entertainment-marketing arena, as well as focusing on the creation of new economic models.
Lang and his team have created nearly 500 projects for Fortune 500 marketers across a vast array of categories and demographics. From Cannes to Effies, he and his team have garnered more awards than any other content group in North America. Personally, Lang has been honored as a Media All-Star, a Media Maven, an Internationalist and named to Ad Age’s Entertainment A-List.
Before joining MindShare Entertainment, Lang was SVP of Development & Production at Lorne Michael’s Broadway Video, where he oversaw his group’s development of shows and the production process as show runner/executive producer.
